About
I'm Kevin Kern, a software engineer and founder based in Vienna.
Over the years, I've worked across a broad range of technology projects in the DACH region and beyond, while continuing to build my own projects and contribute to the developer community.
I believe agentic coding, or AI-first software development, becomes more effective as your technical depth grows, because the better you understand how software is built, the better you can use AI tools to create meaningful results. Over the past year, I’ve focused heavily on working with coding agents to explore how they can reduce repetitive development work, improve output, and make building software more enjoyable.
This site is the home for my writing, notes, and experiments around software, AI, and the way modern teams build.
My projects
Open Source
Ongoing
My GitHub profile is the main place where I publish and work on open-source projects. Most of my OSS tooling, experiments, and agent-related work shows up there first.
Taugentic
2026
After working with all major coding agents, including Cursor, Codex, and Claude Code, I’m now building Taugentic, a next-generation agentic coding app. The goal is to combine the best of both worlds: powerful models, open-source workflows, and an experience that stays simple and easy to work with.
Instructa
2024
In 2024, I built Instructa from scratch to help people learn how to code with AI. As AI tooling becomes a bigger advantage for software engineers, I wanted to build something that helps people adapt early and get fit for the future.
Macherjek
2016
For more than 10 years, I’ve been building software for clients across the DACH region through Macherjek.
Kechit
2012
In 2012, at the age of 21, I founded my first company, Kechit, to provide local IT services and support businesses. Over the next four years, my partner and I grew it into a trusted provider. The company is still operating successfully today.
Community
Open source
A big part of my work happens in the open, mainly on my GitHub profile and in the instructa organization repositories.
Ukraine fundraiser
In 2022, after the start of the war in Ukraine, I organized a charity event that raised EUR 20,000 in a single night for people affected by the war.
Supporting local talent
I supported athlete Lina Bauer on her journey in competitive fitness because I know how important early support is when you’re starting out. Being part of the CrossFit community myself, I’ve seen how demanding the road to the top can be.
